    Brew Your Own Kombucha:
    A Beginner's Workshop

    Saturday March 7, 2026
    1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Owenwood Farm and Neighbor Space 1451 John West Rd Dallas, TX

Curious about kombucha and why people drink it? Ever wished you could save $$ on the expensive store-bought bottles and brew it at home?  In this fun, hands-on demo class, you’ll learn just how easy it is to make your own delicious, healthy fermented tea from scratch.

Kombucha is loved not only for its refreshing taste and natural sparkle, but also for its wellness benefits. Because it’s fermented, kombucha contains live cultures (often called probiotics) along with organic acids and antioxidants from tea. Many people enjoy it as a gut-friendly beverage that can support digestion and overall health, while also serving as a flavorful alternative to sugary sodas.

Brewing your own kombucha lets you control the ingredients, adjust sweetness, reduce packaging waste, and experiment with endless flavor combinations. Not to mention save money!

    In this class, you’ll:

    • Watch a step-by-step live demonstration of the kombucha brewing process
    • Learn simple, safe instructions for making kombucha at home
    • Get tips on flavoring, bottling, and carbonation
    • Enjoy a guided taste test of different kombucha varieties
    • Take home your own SCOBY (starter culture) so you can start brewing right away

No prior experience needed - just bring your curiosity and an open mind. You’ll leave confident, inspired, and ready to start your first batch at home!

    MEET THE INSTRUCTOR:
Toni Leitgab is an environmental and health-conscious Dallas County Master Gardener who loves to experiment with home canning, pickling, and fermenting as a way to preserve the harvest of the home garden, eat better, and save money.

FIG PRUNING, PROPAGATING & PLANTING IN THE ORCHARD

    MARCH 15, 2026
OWENWOOD FARM 1451 JOHN WEST ROAD DALLAS, TX
    2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join us on March 15, 2026 at Owenwood Farm to help plant fig trees in the orchard! You’ll get a crash course in pruning, propagating and planting figs from our friends from Two Doves Bees & Gardens!

    ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Two Doves Bees & Gardens is the work of John and Sarah, a husband‑and‑wife team tending a small but vibrant homestead in North Texas. Rooted in permaculture principles, we’ve grown our space into a thriving food forest—home to more than 100 fig varieties, diverse fruit trees, native plants, and seasonal crops that nourish both our land and our community.

Our garden is our classroom and our canvas. It’s where we experiment, observe, and share the real journey of regenerative living. From rebuilding tired soil to outsmarting invasive weeds to planting with intention, we lean into the rhythms of nature and believe that every season offers a chance to grow with purpose.

We’re building more than a garden—we’re building a legacy of stewardship, creativity, and connection. A legacy rooted in love for the earth, for each other, and for the community that’s growing alongside us.

    POLLIATOR PARKWAY PLANTING

     MARCH 18, 2026
Peppers and Petals Farm in Grand Prairie, TX
    10:00 am - 12:00 pm

If you’ve been around GROW North Texas for a while, you’ve probably heard us talk a lot about urban farming. We’ve encouraged you to get a farm and tract number and to officially designate your backyard as an urban farm. Well, one of our own staff members did exactly that, and now she wants to show you what it can look like in real life!

By using every viable inch of her property to support her registered suburban microfarm, Peppers and Petals, she’s expanding environmentally friendly practices beyond the backyard and into the front yard. An underutilized space is being transformed into a pollinator-friendly garden filled with native plants; adding beauty, purpose, and ecological value to the entire property.

Participants will get hands-on experience helping install this beginner-friendly pollinator garden in an unexpected location that requires special considerations because of it's unique location. It’s designed to be a fun, approachable learning experience for anyone curious about growing with intention!

Whether you’re a homeowner or a renter, please remember to check with your HOA, property manager, and any relevant city or county officials to ensure your project remains within local guidelines and regulations.

More details, the address, and parking instructions and will be shared in an email sent Sunday night.

Location is near I-20 and 360
